Notes on the Exercise

This event is a full-scale exercise simulating a hurricane impact throughout Tallahassee/Leon County. Teams will be assigned missions, have to carry those out, and provide the requested data/products/information to the Exercise Command Post/IMT. Communication will be via cell phone and email. The schedule will be dynamic, and the pace will be as fast as a team wants it to go. The goal is to provide a realistic environment to test your teams capabilities.

Bring the gear and equipment that you will need to be successful. Teams will be asked to complete missions related to damage assessment, incident assessment/video, SAR, mapping, and infrastructure assessment. The Exercise IMT will assist with data management, but the majority of that burden will remain with the teams.

There are no set breaks during the exercise. You will need to take care of your team with whatever breaks you deem necessary. Again, the pace will be up to you. Night operations on Thursday will be available after a mandatory safety briefing.

The weather may not be great for the event. It may rain, it may be hot, there may be mosquitos. We will conduct the exercise as long as conditions are safe.

Uniform of the Day

Training uniforms or field wear/utilities are encouraged. With the exception of Wednesday morning, the majority of this event will be in the field. It will be hot. Marked uniforms are good - your teams will be in public operating during the exercise.

WiFi

Guest WiFi will be available at the conference center. We will have limited wifi available at Apalachee Regional Park.

Lodging

The following hotels are close to the Conference Center - but just about any hotel in Tallahassee will work. I'm not endorsing these, I'm just providing options.

Hampton Inn & Suites Tallahassee Capitol-University - https://goo.gl/maps/1aDXgZqWxY9DE5987
